Reference Keywords

The bold words, in plain words.

A keyword is shorthand for a rule printed on many cards. The card reminds you in brackets. Here's what each one actually means at the table.

Bodyguard

“This character may enter play exerted. An opposing character who challenges one of your characters must choose one with Bodyguard if able.”

A wall. While it is exerted, your opponent has to get through it before they can challenge anything else of yours.

Shift

“You may pay N ink to play this on top of one of your characters with the same name.”

A cheaper way in: play it on top of a character with the same name. It keeps that character's damage and readiness, so it might quest straight away.
